Dad’s Hunting Sweater: The Details

by tolmema on June 1, 2014

I knit a hunting sweater for my dad last summer but I’m a horrible forgetful person and never sent it to him.

Luckily, it fits him perfectly!

I created my own pattern based on his measurements. It’s a standard top-down, raglan sleeve sweater with ribbing on the collar, sleeves, and waistband.

The stripes are about 11 rows each (an entire skein of yarn). I used size 8mm needles for the body and 6mm for the ribbing.

I used Lamb’s Pride Bulky yarn, which made the sweater work up quickly but is super itchy.

This was actually the first sweater I ever made. It was a great intro project since I didn’t have to follow a pattern, just measurements, and felt very satisfying since it knit up so quickly!
